Snickers Aiming To Decrease The Chocolate And Carmel For Your Health

I will not lie, I was pretty shocked when I read a recent report from Mars Inc, announcing that they are going to quite making huge, calorie laden candy bars. They have the goal to help support healthier eating and nutrition, and make a stand that a candy bar is not a meal or a necessity and it is certainly not a part of a clean diet.
The biggest step for them in this process will be putting an end to manufacturing candy bars that hold over 250 calories, that?s pretty much all of the king-size candy bars (included the giant Snickers that has over 500).
Just think that in order to burn off those 540 calories you would need to run about six miles or workout for an hour straight… plus or minus depending on your weight.
This isnt the first step that they have taken, back in 2007 it was apparently announced that they would cut advertising time if over 25-percent of their viewers were under the age of 12, since thisi is an age that is highly influenced by media and especially fancy commercials! And they have more goals to come in the future… one being to cut sodium by a quarter in all foods.
Wow, that?s what I have to say. This is such a step in the right direction and I actually now have a lot of respect for Mars. Sure, their overall goal is to sell candy, it is also clear that they want to do it in a way that is in people?s best interest as well.
I have an idea help educate people to learn that sugar in moderation isn’t a terrible thing so, create an incentive plan where if someone logs in over 5 hours of workout plans then they are entitled to a free bar of their choice. That might get those sweet lovers off the couch and into the gym burning off the 250 calories.
They really are showing themselves in a positive light and I hope that other big name companies take note and move in their direction as well. They will still make money, gain respect, and continue to make their candy while trying to teach people the proper way to live a healthy life.
Keep in mind that it is because of huge portions offered in restaurants, stores, and even cookbooks that have become available over the past few decades that Americans continue to grow larger and larger. Just look at cookbooks, in the past fifty years, our serving sizes have increased by 40-percent. Think of all those unneeded calories, saturated fat grams, and unhealthy carbohydrates.
I solute any company that stands up and recognizes that sometimes it isn’t just about making a profit, it’s about making a profit the right way and keeping customers for the long run.
